spring: rain

Spring is for making memories
of good things and happy endings,
when the sun and sky are willing
to let us get on with our fantasies.

In warm humid days we dream
of joy to come and we believe
in neverending things to achieve
and with boundless strength redeem.

But as the dark clouds start to grow
we're reminded of colder strains
of thoughts in another vein
telling us to not forget to know

spring is also for making strangers -
people you knew once before -
and hopes you won't have anymore
to questions left with no answers.

working on some ideas, when i came across this comic in my firefox bookmarks. can't remember who sent it to me, but i'm really grateful for it. i'm the kind of person who just can't be content with being happy, who prefers to go digging for things that are hidden that just complicates everything. i once said that there was no such thing as a happy memory, because even good memories only remind you of good things that past. how much worse if you knew you never cherished it till it was gone.

spring: trails

The sun comes rising up to bleach
the pictures of seasons past.
The old must make way for the new
as broken fences rust.

Across blue cloudless skies the planes
trailing smoke in springtime days,
while lonesome people cry as their
lovers are taken away.

being in the vacinity of 2 major airports (O'Hare and Midway) pretty much means that most days the skies are covered with the trails left behind by planes. i've always had this thing for planes. everytime i see one, i'd imagine where it was going, and what the people on it must be thinking. how many people on each plane were leaving the people they loved behind?

spring is the season of renewal, but quoting every new beginning does come from some other beginning's end. and when you fly towards anything, there is always something you're leaving behind.
